Report Catalog

All of the built-in reports have been assigned a unique report category, which facilitates the review of these reports. These categories have been selected with various types of ChangeMan ZMF users (roles) in mind. It is recommended to use the Report Catalog (as shown in the above screen) to review/explore ASR's built-in reports by category, and selecting those categories that best fit with your role as a ChangeMan ZMF user.

Edit report specifications

The Edit report function is used to set the various specifications of a report, such as:

• The actual data (like columns) to be included in the report.

• The selection criteria for data to be included in the report.

• The sorting and grouping of data.

• How the report or basket should be formatted (headers, footers, etc).

• Etc.

Use ASR to maintain historical ChangeMan ZMF meta-data

As an extension to regular ChangeMan ZMF housekeeping, ASR can automatically maintain historical ChangeMan ZMF meta-data about packages or CMNLOG records. The results of this automated process can be saved in an ASR environment which can be either an Archive ChangeMan ZMF subsystem , or an Historical ChangeMan environment. When generating any ASR report, either or both of these ASR environments can be used as (extra) input. By using these ASR environments, the package aging parameters (for BAS packages) are typically reduced from something between 1 to 3 years to only 1 to 3 months, which results in a huge resources consumption and/or performance gain when using the primary ChangeMan ZMF subsystem. But without really loosing any historical meta-data (such data just got moved to a dedicated environment which is only used for historical meta-data).

ASR provides flexibility in report delivery, enabling reports to be kept online, emailed, or transmitted to the user's workstation. Reports can be formatted as traditional reports or as CSV files, making them compatible with various CSV-compliant applications for the production of graphics. Users can save JCL (Job Control Language) and schedule reports to run on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, automating the reporting process.

ASR includes features to work around any missing features or known limitations of ChangeMan ZMF's XML services, ensuring that users can access the information they need.
