How would this work?

  • ASC aids in various aspects of ChangeMan ZMF release upgrades by comparing all XML services between different versions to identify changes, such as new or removed services and updated tags. It facilitates basket processing to enable new features and removes outdated elements like library types and user options to prevent outdated customizations during upgrades. Additionally, ASC initializes new ChangeMan ZMF instances for testing new releases, ensuring smooth transitions.

  • ASC offers significant enhancements over XMLSERV, allowing users to both analyze and execute any XML service, complete with XML logging and rollback capabilities. Its search functionality enables users to locate specific XML services based on service, scope, message, request or result tags, or XML category. Additionally, ASC's code generation capabilities allow for the automatic creation of fully functional REXX code to execute any XML service, enabling its seamless integration within any ChangeMan ZMF customization.

  • ASC's basket processing feature enables action to be taken on any list of outdated packages, components, applications, etc., in basket format, including deletion or updating of objects within the basket. These baskets can be generated either through custom processes or using ASR, which comes with numerous reusable reports formatted as CSV files, based on real-world use cases from various ChangeMan ZMF implementations. These reports are dedicated to discovering outdated ChangeMan ZMF data, such as empty packages created long ago, or components staged or checked out X days/weeks/months ago.

  • ASC's basket processing feature streamlines ChangeMan ZMF admin tasks by enabling the output of one XML service to serve as input for subsequent services, simplifying mass updates to packages, components, application admin, and more. Additionally, ASC supports comparing XML services, whether to compare all services of different ChangeMan ZMF releases or two specific services within the same release. Its code generation capabilities further simplify customization creation and maintenance by facilitating the invocation of any XML service. Moreover, the ASC solution center, drawing from real-world use cases, offers reusable processes to address typical requests across various ChangeMan ZMF implementations.

  • ASC is implemented as an ISPF application comprising approximately 10 libraries delivered in XMIT format. Installing ASC involves performing a TSO receive of the XMIT files, which takes a maximum of 15 minutes, followed by reviewing and configuring the desired options in a single configuration file, requiring just 1 to 3 hours. Upgrading ASC entails replacing the delivered libraries in XMIT format, also taking a maximum of 15 minutes, and then merging the configuration file from the new ASC version with the custom version from the prior release, typically requiring about an hour.

  • After installing ASC and adjusting user profile settings, enabled green, yellow, or red XML services are accessible (if authorized by the ASC admin) for typical ASC actions such as execution, analysis, code generation, or utilizing unique XML search features exclusive to ASC (not available via XMLSERV). Due to its highly intuitive and user-friendly ISPF interface, complete with context-sensitive online tutorial panels, users typically become proficient within minutes to hours, often without needing to consult extensive ASC user manuals.
